Nestled in the heart of Bucharest on Strada General H. M. Berthelot, Ou | Breakfast & Brunch Restaurant is a delightful haven for egg lovers and brunch enthusiasts seeking a cozy, unpretentious spot to start their day. Specializing in creative breakfast fare, Ou expertly balances both classic and innovative dishes that highlight the humble egg in ways that are inviting yet refined.
The menu is an enticing blend of flavors and textures, where the star ingredient shines through with each carefully crafted dish. Their French Omelette is a standout—a fluffy, perfectly cooked omelette complemented by crispy hashbrowns, juicy tomatoes, silky cream cheese, fresh greens, and the intriguing earthy notes of Romanian black truffles. For those craving something with a Spanish twist, the Tortilla de Patatas offers a comforting plate of golden eggs, tender potatoes, and caramelized onions paired with a housemade aioli and crisp salad, striking a harmonious balance between hearty and fresh.
Brunch at Ou is not just about savory plates; their sweet selection of Maritozzo buns adds a luxurious layer to your experience. These soft, pillowy buns are crafted with care and come filled with luscious whipped cream, luscious vanilla custard, or zesty lemon cream, providing the perfect end note to your morning meal. The freshness and balance of sweetness here are subtle yet memorable, inviting a little indulgence without overwhelming the palate.
The atmosphere at Ou perfectly complements its food. Many visitors cherish the intimate, almost homelike feel, accentuated by a charming back garden terrace that becomes particularly inviting on warmer days. This tucked-away outdoor seating is a breath of fresh air amid the city bustle and offers a serene spot to savor your meal while soaking in gentle garden vibes. Since the indoor space is limited, it’s wise to arrive early, especially on weekends, to secure a cozy spot and avoid the lunchtime rush.
Service here is frequently praised for its warmth and attentiveness. Guests appreciate the friendly staff who take time to explain dishes and make you feel genuinely welcomed. Although waits can occur during peak hours—a small price for high-quality, thoughtfully prepared dishes—the overall pace is relaxed, encouraging diners to savor their experience fully.
Though some reviewers mention that the coffee and some flavors might not be mind-blowing, the consensus leans toward Ou being a reliably delightful brunch destination where consistency, comfort, and quality take center stage. Whether you’re popping in to enjoy the classic Spanish-inspired tortilla, indulging in the signature Maritozzo buns, or exploring the creative specials like the Turkish Simit or katsu-flavored dishes, Ou offers a nuanced brunch experience with a touch of originality.
For any food lover seeking a genuine, low-key spot with a creative edge in Bucharest’s brunch scene, Ou is a worthy choice. Its ambiance, handcrafted menu, and genuine hospitality combine to create a memorable morning outing that invites you to return time and again.

I was there twice. Overall a lovely experience. A very cozy feel-at-home place with a really good atmosphere. The food and drinks are average, not mind-blowing, but not disappointing either. Just a low-key place to have a nice breakfast/ brunch in. I would recommend to come a bit earlier than the usual brunch-rush, as there isn't much indoor seating available and it might be too cold to sit outside. I will definitely return!

Ou is a solid brunch spot if you're an egg lover, with plenty of egg-based dishes to choose from. One thing I really appreciated was that they make their buns in-house, which is a nice touch. My overall experience was good, everything was cooked well, and the service was friendly, but the food didn’t exactly blow me away. It was a nice meal, just not particularly memorable in terms of flavor. They also have a small, cozy garden, and a big plus for me is that they accept dogs, which makes the atmosphere even more relaxed!

One of our fave brunch places in Bucharest for the delicious egg based food, really cute and cosy outside garden, lovely atmosphere and really nice service. I love their creative and diverse dishes with an oriental touch as well and the Madison coffee. We have been here many times and it is always a good choice. You need to try their Maritozzo buns, savoury and sweet, my fave is the lemon. Closing time is 15 so it’s a breakfast brunch place.

I was there twice. First time, on a Sunday, got there just as they opened at 10, not very busy and fast service. Next time, we arrived on Saturday at around 11:30 and it was already packed. All the tables inside were taken, we ate on the terrace out in the back. Great food both times, coffee is average, and service is always amazing. I recommend the Turkish Simit and the Maritozzo Katsu.

Amazing place! As we arrived the service was so nice and, she helped us and explained all the dishes. We had to wait like for 30 minutes for the dishes, but this the price you pay for highest quality. We took tonkastu, tan tan, misu all was so tasty and just WOW. After we ended the chef/manager meat us and was very nice also, he told us about his resturant and it was a very pleasent conversation. One fo the best ramen in Europe, and we have have been all around

Nice place for brunch on weekends! We enjoyed nice food! It can get a little bit crowded if the weather is not good to stay outside.
